نستعمل because مع فاعل وفعل: We stayed home because it was raining. ونستعمل because of مع اسم أو ضمير: We stayed home because of the rain.
العربية تفرّق بالطريقة نفسها: «بسبب» مع اسم و«لأن» مع جملة. لكننا عند الكتابة السريعة نحذف of أو نضيفها في غير مكانها: because the rain و because of it was late.
