Day 1 of 60 · A2 · Grammar
Agree is a verb, not an adjective. Say I agree, I don't agree and Do you agree?, never I am agree.
French says je suis d'accord and Arabic says أنا موافق, so learners add am. English uses the verb on its own.
| ✗ Don't say | ✓ Say |
|---|---|
| I am agree with you. | I agree with you. |
| She is agree. | She agrees. |
| Are you agree? | Do you agree? |
| I am not agree. | I don't agree. |
A: Let's move the meeting to Monday.
B: I agree. Monday is better for everyone.
A: And start at 8 a.m.?
B: Sorry, I don't agree. 9 a.m. is easier.
Choose the best answer. The answers are at the end of the lesson.
Put with before a person or an idea: I agree with you. I agree with this plan.
