The national English paper in the second year of the Moroccan Baccalaureate looks the same from one session to the next. Knowing its shape before you revise saves weeks, because you can practise each part on its own and then under time.
Format checked by your teacher, Abdelkrim Amrani, on 18 October 2026. Each year's official reference framework (cadre de référence) is published by the Ministry of National Education, so look at the version for your session on men.gov.ma as well.
| Part | Points | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Reading comprehension | 15 | Read one authentic text (300 to 450 words) and answer questions |
| Language | 15 | Grammar and vocabulary tasks |
| Writing | 10 | A guided paragraph or a short essay or article of about 150 words on the theme of the text |
| Total | 40 | Duration: 2 hours |
Coefficients depend on your track: 4 in Letters (where the paper is longer, about 3 hours), 3 in Human Sciences and 2 in the other tracks, including Maths A. Check your own subject sheet for the exact duration and coefficient.
The questions follow the text in order. Expect:
These are grammar tasks, and they are the part you can raise fastest with practice. The structures that come up most often are the passive voice, reported speech, conditionals, modal verbs and word formation (prefixes and suffixes). For each one, learn the pattern and then do 10 exercises, correcting every error in a notebook.
Ten points is a quarter of the paper, and it is where students lose marks they did not need to lose. Write about 150 words on the theme of the text. Plan for two minutes, stay on the topic, and keep your sentences simple and correct rather than long and risky.
This is a suggestion for practice, not an official allocation. For a 2-hour paper:
| Step | Minutes |
|---|---|
| Read the text twice, then answer the reading questions | 30 |
| Language tasks | 40 |
| Plan, write and check the writing task | 50 |
