بعض الأسماء غير معدودة في الإنجليزية: advice و information و homework و furniture و news و luggage. لا نضيف لها s ولا نضع قبلها a أو an، بل نقول some advice أو a piece of advice أو a lot of information.
في العربية نقول «نصائح» و«معلومات»، وفي الفرنسية des conseils و des informations، فيكتب كثيرون advices و informations. أما في الإنجليزية فلا تُجمع هذه الكلمات، ويكون الفعل معها مفردًا: The information is correct.

A: Thanks. Can I ask for some advice too? Is there much homework?
B: Not much. About an hour a week.
اختر الجواب الصحيح. الأجوبة في آخر الدرس.
كلمة news تنتهي بـ s لكنها مفردة: The news is good. وللعدّ نستعمل وحدة: two pieces of luggage و a piece of furniture.
