Discuss the plan, niet “discuss about the plan”

De regel

Sommige werkwoorden krijgen hun lijdend voorwerp direct, zonder voorzetsel: discuss something, enter a room, marry someone, call someone. Zeg We discussed the price, niet We discussed about the price.

In het Arabisch zeg je ناقش حول en دخل إلى, en in het Frans discuter de, dus voegen leerders about of to toe. Deze Engelse werkwoorden hebben dat niet nodig.
